Biography

I have been writing about the business technology industry since 1990, when I graduated from Lancaster University (with a BSc in Psychology).

I began my working life as a reporter on daily IT industry newsletter Computergram International, at APT Data Services in Sutton Row, Soho. This launched a 10-year career in staff journalism in London, including a long stint as editor of The VAR magazine at Dennis Publishing, then Reed Business Information.

In 2001, I launched my freelance career to facilitate a move to France, where I lived and worked for the next 6 years. Since returning to the UK 12 years ago, I have based my home and work in beautiful west Wales, not far from the coast of Pembrokeshire.

As a freelance journalist and copywriter I have worked extensively across for the UK IT and business press, for publications as wide-ranging as Global Telecoms Business, Mobile Europe, Cloud Pro, Information Week, B2B Marketing, The Guardian and The Daily Telegraph.

As a copywriter (the other side to my business), I have produced an extensive range of thought leadership, web content, case studies and bylined articles over the last 18+ years, for the likes of Cisco, Microsoft, Capgemini and CIO Connect.

In 2002, I was commissioned to ghost-write a major 80,000-word IT business book for Capgemini, as part of a book series organised by the Management Consultancies Association (MCA). This was published internationally by Hodder & Stoughton. The book, 'Joined-Up Systems: Building the Integrated Business', aimed at a senior management audience, is an accessible and practical guide to the subject of complex systems integration. The project was successfully delivered on time and to budget within just three months.

Today I produce the full spectrum of content, drawing on my 29 years' experience of writing about the IT industry and general business. Typical commissions include issue-driven feature articles for national newspapers and specialist industry publications, and ghost-written content for some of the biggest names in technology and telecoms. This includes customer and partner case studies, complex white papers and research reports, web and brochure copy, bylined opinion articles, provocative blog content, internal communications materials, and conference speeches.

I pride myself on producing excellent, highly readable and relevant content. Over the years, numerous clients have come to rely on me as an extension of their internal team, and for my unwavering ability to take on and deliver 11th-hour projects.
